The trunnion ball valve is a quarter-turn valve that is used to stop or start the flow of media in a pipe. The most common type of ball valve has a “free-floating” design, which is why it is a design change. Within this device, the ball connects to the stem on one end, and on the other end, a shaft called the trunnion.
